What Are The Dangers Of Eating Rotten Egg?

I was baking a cake last night. As I added the eggs, one smelled funny. It was already in the batter and mixer when I noticed the smell. I went ahead and placed the cake in the oven since it was completely mixed - but I'm afraid to eat it. What are the dangers of eating it assuming the egg was rotten?
