hi, i am wondering if i may be pregnant or whats wrong? i am so weak and tired and have a pulled muscle feeling in between my ribs in the middle of my abdomen. i had sex then took birth control after and was wondering if i was pregnant. if i was pregnant then it would be the first month

I had gone through your query.

If you had taken birth control pill in adequate dosage within 24 hours of the sex, the chances of pregnancy are very poor.

The symptoms of early pregnancy are:
1. Missing a period
2. Nausea and vomiting
3. Frequency of urination
4. Breast symptoms: Engorgement, tenderness, darkening of areola and nipples, increase in the size of the areola and secretions from the nipples.

However, if you have not missed the period, the other symptoms can be due to some other cause.

Even though all these symptoms are present, pregnancy has to be diagnosed by clinical examination and some investigations. The investigations are:
1. Urine pregnancy test
2. Ultrasonography
3. Beta hCG test
The first two investigations are conclusive only 8-10 days after missed period. The third one being specific and sensitive is conclusive 2-3 days after missed period.

If you have not missed your period, wait to see whether you miss or not.

The pulled muscle feeling between the ribs is most likely due to acidity. Some antacid like Tums or Gelucil might give you some relief. Weakness and tiredness may be attributed to your apprehension.
