What Are The Early Signs And Symptoms Of Pregnancy?

Hello. Last year I missed 2 periods and this year I ve already missed 1. I am 45 so obviously not ovulating every month. My last period was on 31st July. It was 3 days of extremely light spotting. Not needing anything but a panty liner it wa soooo light. However I had unprotected sex on 24th Aug as felt this was a safe period. I have not had a period in aug. I do not feel pregnant but it s niggling me. Do you think I have just not ovulated hence lack of period or what would the chances be that I m pregnant as it must be hard at my age

Hi,
I can understand your concern. Indeed, you have both possibilities at this stage. The best way out in the current scenario is to exclude/confirm pregnancy first through an assessment of the serum beta-hCG titres and a trans-vaginal sonogram and if negative, get a complete hormone profile and a clinical assessment by a specialist. It is more likely to be an anovulatory period, but, as is well said, peri-menopause is the time when a pregnancy is often missed. Hope your query has been clarified. Wish you good health.
