Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Implanon, because it is time released, most of the time does not give women regular periods. It is common to have irregular bleeding in the beginning followed by no periods at all. In a way that is how the medication works to prevent pregnancy.

Not getting your period is just a side effect of the Implanon and menstruation comes back after 2 years (when it needs replacing) or if the device is removed. It isn't dangerous to miss your period if it is caused by medication.

I hope that I was able to answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.

Best wishes, Dr. Brown
