What Are The Effect Of Taking Lovir During Pregnancy?

My daughter has got chickenpox and I am 20 weeks pregnant now. I am staying with her. My doctor prescribed Lovir 800 tablets 3 times a day for 5 days. I just took one tablet and then came to know that it will adversely affect my baby. So I stopped taking it. Will this one tablet cause any ill effects on baby? what measures should take to prevent it. Please suggest?

Hello,

I think you should stop taking them. One tablet only is not likely to harm baby. I think you will not have side effects and will not need it. Possibly you have had chicken pox as a child.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
