What Are The Effects Of Accidentally Missing Contraceptive Pills?

Hello, my wife has been on contraceptive pills for some three months. Her last periods ended on Monday last week. She started on the new packet of pills but she forgot to take her pills last wed and thursday. We had unprotected sex on Thursday. On Friday, Saturday and yesterday, she took the normal pills and even compensated on the forgotten ones. She took postinor 2 today. Where does that leave us?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Missed contraceptive pills create the possibility of ovulation in the cue... so there can be a conception in following periods. She had resumed her pills after 2 days &taken emergency contraceptive in addition. This gives contraceptive protection. But at the same time, there is a possibility of getting hormonal imbalance & delayed/irregular bleeding. You should use additional contraception (barrier contraceptive like a condom) till regular periods are regained.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
