What Are The Effects Of Missing A Dose Of Birth Control Pills?

Hi, i forgot to take my birth control pills and i got my period. Instead of taking 3 pills in a row, im waiting 6 days until my period cycle is done to start a new pack. How long do i have to take the pills until im protected again after messing this up?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Ideally, birth control pills need to be taken every day at the same time without missing on any of the days as prescribed on the pack.

Whenever you miss a birth control pill, you need to take it as early as possible before the next dose and continue till the pack ends. During such instance, you need to use additional contraceptive like condoms and spermicidal agents till you get your next periods.

After getting your periods, you need to start fresh pack as per the instructions over it.
