Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. An egg is released from the ovary during ovulation and can be fertilized for only 12 to 24 hours after its release. However, sometimes more than one egg is released, so that an egg may be available for up to two days. In addition, sperm can last up to five days in the cervix, uterus and fallopian tubes. It takes sperm a couple of days to make the trip to the fallopian tubes to meet the egg, so, you increase your chances of getting pregnant by having sex during the one week period that starts five days before ovulation and ending two days after ovulation. So if your cycle is 28 days then 14th day will be your ovulation. So you are just in the edge and have less chances. But if your cycle is long then your ovulation will be after the 14th day and there is increased chances also. Let me know if you have any further query.
