What Are The Possible Causes For Noticing Blood In My Vomit During Pregnancy?

Hi,
I'm 24 weeks and 5 days pregnant, I have been down with a virus the past week and have noticed spots of blood in my vomit. I am unsure if this is coming from my stomach, or lungs. My question would be should I seek medical advice promptly? I am experiencing no pain and my baby is very active so I do not immediately fear for him at this time. What could possibly be causing this? thank you

Hello,
The cause of blood in the vomit could be due to some mucosal tear from excessive retching if it is fresh; altered blood calls for concern as it may be gastric in origin. Please observe if the bleeding recurs, and if so, report immediately to your health care provider for further evaluation. To avoid retching, you may take some honey and anti-emetics. Please take adequate rest and maintain a healthy diet. Hope your query has been answered. Wish you safe motherhood.
