What Are The Possible Treatment For Ruptured Eardrum?

Went to a&e last night and told i have a ruptured eardrum . They booked me in to the ENT clinic on friday but im at wrk on monday . Do you think my local GP can sign me off with this as i use a single sided headset and operate machinary in a busy warehouse as my headset will be covering my only wrking ear . Thanks

Regarding your query for treatment of ruptured ear drum I would like to say as soon as ear drum ruptures , the hearing suddenly change to muffled hearing.Trauma for rupture may be barotrauma (seen when some body has been slaped) or direct trauma (seen in ear cleaning by q-tip) one should always consult the ENT specialist for better care. Here I would like to tell you fortunately god has given tremendous power of regeneration to ear drum therefore traumatic perforation of ear drum heales in an excillent way.

Till you are waiting for specialist you may do-

1- Never put any ear drop to ear, and keep the ear clean & dry.

2- Plug the ear canal with piece of cotton.

3- Took tab Paracetamol for pain.

4- Anti histaminic (to avoid cold & proper working of eustachian tube).

Above are the conservative method of treatment and most of the patients gets cured by it, but some times conservative method fails than patient is investigated for hearing by audiometric testing and surgery is planed as per requarement.
