What Are The Possible Treatment Options To Make A Scar Look Less Noticeable?

Hello Sir, I am a 27 year old girl. I had a accident when I was about 10 year old and its scar is still there on my right cheek just next to nose. Its size is about one and half inch. Its a atrophic kind of scar and I have already tried merderma on it but did not see much improvement.. Can you please help in what are the possible treatment options to make it look less noticeable. I have read few studies which suggest derma roller helps on creating collagen creation but never tried that.. Is it a safe option to try on face scar?
I would prefer applying some cream n all to get rid of it and kept the laser or surgery as last option if nothing else can be done.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

It would be hard for me to suggest the best method to improve the appearance of your scar, without having a look at it.

Various surgical treatment options available are:
--Laser Resurfacing
--Dermaroller
--Dermabrasion
--Injections/Fillers
--Scar Revision

Cream would at the most help in making it lighter in colour(if it is hyperpigmented scar) without affecting the depth of the scar. Tretinoin cream 0.025% once daily at night can be tried because tretinoin has this property of remodeling dermal collagen and though it can fade away superficial scars but for a deep scar it is preferable to go for some sort of surgical treatment like dermaroller, laser or scar revision.

Dermaroller akin to Laser resurfacing builds up new collagen which lifts up the scar and makes it less noticeable. It is absolutely safe to do in experienced hands of a dermatologist.
