What Are The Possible Treatments For Pilonidal Abcess ?

Hi I've recently developed a pilonidal abcess. It popped on it's own and my local doctor attempted to drain it as well. However I was told I need surgery. That was a few weeks ago. The abcess is no longer draining alot of pus, and is alot smaller. However there is still a black hole in the middle. Will this hole eventually close up?
