What Are The Reasons For Having High Gamma Gt?

Hello, I am a woman 32, with gamma gt high 41 (out a lab normal interval of 1-35) all the other value are normal except The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) that is 20 (out of lab normal interval of 1-15), i am not a drinker and i don t smoke. i had kidney stones last year. What can be the cause? I did exams cause i gained 8 kg weight in the last 5 month and even i am eating a balanced low calory diet i am not able to lose weight thanks

Gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) levels may also be increased in certain conditions apart from alcohol intake like cholestasis which is obstruction in the flow of bile (may be due to gall stones or some other reasons), some liver diseases and with certain medications intake. Moreover, measuring the levels of some other liver function tests like AST, ALT would give a better idea.

Such a slight elevation as in your case may not indicate a significant abnormality but should be addressed accordingly.
