What Are The Reasons For Swelling And Pain In Outer Corner Of Eye?
hey, I woke up this morning to the outer corner of my left eye hurting. I decided to wait to see if the pain would go away but it hasn't yet. it feels swollen but it isn't and the skin on the outer corner of my eye is red and tender to the touch. It hurts to blink and doesnt hurt when my eye is closed or not moving. what could this be?
Presence of swelling and pain in outer corner of eye can be due to: 1. Stye- acute infection/inflammation of the glands in the eye lashes. Associated with pain, swelling & watering of eyes. 2. Chalazion- chronic infection/inflammation of the meibomian glands of the eyelids. 3. Concretions 4. Meibomian cyst
Management involves: 1. Hot fomentation. 2. Application of topical antibiotic ointment. 3. Smaller lesions can be managed by injection with a corticosteroid. 4. Surgical management- incision & drainage to be done in case it is not controlled by medications.
So, it will be better to consult an Ophthalmologist & get a proper physical examination done to find out the exact cause. Based on that, appropriate management steps could be taken.
There is no need to worry, you will be fine. Wishing a good health. Take care.
