What Are The Repercussions Of Accidental Ingestion Of Mr. Clean Cleaning Agent?

Around 9 pm this evening my son got ahold of my mr clean bottle while I was cleaning up after dinner and when I turned around he had it bringing it back down from his lips and coughed, that s when I knew he drank it! I called poison control. They had me have him drink water, eat a small snack and watch for symptoms such as coughing and vomiting. We monitored for an hour and nothing happened. About 30 minutes ago he started coughing, it went on for maybe 10 minutes a few coughs here and there, but it has subsided. Do I need to go to the ER or continue to monitor him.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

What is your son's age? Since he is having continues cough, better go to the ER and take an X-ray and check it. This is because cough may be due to aspiration of Mr. Clean. It may develop pneumonia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. C. Elanchezhian, General & Family Physician
