Hello and thank you for visiting our site.

Preeclampsia is a common problem during pregnancy. It is defined as an elevation in your blood pressure (140/90 on two separate occasions), swelling, and protein in the urine (>300mg/24hrs). So, if your blood pressure has been worse, then combined with the urine result, it sounds like you have mild preeclampsia. Signs of worsening disease include: involvement of your kidneys, liver, nervous system and the placenta. You need the following:
1. Close observation by your OB Provider
2. In some cases, admission to the hospital
3. Evaluation of the baby with an ultrasound to assess growth
4. Bedrest / off work
5. Repeat labs within 24 hours of when those were drawn

These are great questions for your doctor and they should be involved and careful because this disease can behave unpredictably and should be taken very seriously.

I hope that this helps and good luck!

Dr. Tim
