What Are The Side Effects From Fluconazole And Moxifiloxcin?

I was recently hospitalized for removal of hardware from surgery in 2010. Upon discharge I was prescribed fluconazole and moxifiloxacin. The phArmaist at Rite Aid cautioned that these meds can lead to dizziness and falls. I am concerned about these side effects.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Fluconazole is an azole antifungal. It is used for treating and preventing certain yeast and fungal infections. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, headache, dizziness and hair loss are commonly encountered side effects.
Moxifloxacin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called 'quinolone' antibiotics. Nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, weakness and sleep disturbances are common side effects that may occur.
Not all subjects who take these medications will experience these side effects. Many of them do not experience any of the above mentioned side effects at all. If any of these effects persist or worsen, you need to seek medical attention promptly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
