What Are The Side Effects Of .01 Retina If Used On Scars?

I had some ingrown hairs on my breasts back in May of this year. I used a a pair of tweezers to try and remove the hair which has resulted in some scars on my breasts. My picking at it hasn't helped but has really just made the reddish areas slightly larger. I have stopped picking at it and have been using both Mederma and .01 Retina on them. Is this a good idea? Should I not use the .01 Retina?
