General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Although it is quite safe there are a few side effects which are known. alpha-lipoic acid is thought to be possibly safe when taken as directed.

You may have low blood sugar--headache, hunger, weakness, sweating, confusion, irritability, dizziness, fast heart rate, or feeling jittery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
