Hello, my grandson, Khaleb was given decadron at the emergency clinic to help with his breathing due to an onset of the flu/old he's been experiencing over several days.
We arrive home and put him to bed only to realize that he awoke frantically screaming fearfully, finally we got him calm down and began to understand was it the medication decadron he was given that caused this side effect. And we believe it was. Can you help us understand more about this drug and what can we expect over the next 24 hours?

In a rare amount of cases, Dexamethasone can cause mood swings following a single dose.
To avoid further such incidents, you should speak to your doctor to give you an alternative such as Prednisolone. It is a lesser potent steroid and can be given over a few days to gradually reduce symptoms of the flu; or in this case laryngeal swelling.
