What Are The Side Effects Of Depo Provera Injection?

I did not go in for my sched. depo prov. shot in April, 2010 because I wanted to discontinue using it after being on it for about a year. I have not menstrated since the discontinuation. Is this normal? How long should it take to get back into the "swing of things"?
