What Are The Side Effects Of Escitalopram?

Hi, my mom wAs prescribed escitalopram for her apparent depression (she says she doesn't have) but she feels very drowsy and sleepy all the time. She asked her doctor if she could stop and she told my mom not to. What are the side effects if she stops now.

Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
It depends on what antidepressant she is on. If she in only on escitalopram then the same should be withdrawn gradually or else there may be a lapse of depression. Further the treatment of depression contnues for atleast 8-10 months and any treatment less than that will not be recommended. If she is not happy with escitalopram then she can always consider changing the anti depressant.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
