Hello,
Emergency contraception is needed if pregnancy is to be avoided with an intercourse taking place around the fertile or ovulatory period. If she happens to be in the safe period there is no need for the pill. Once taken, the pill, with its high content of hormone, causes withdrawal bleeding and can delay the next natural period by a week or two. The other usual side effects of pills, like nausea, breast discomfort, bloating etc., can also be felt. She can go about her daily routines as usual. Hope this helps.
