What Are The Side Effects Of Metformin?

I am 62 female, I was diagnosed Nov 9th with stage 2 diabetes. Blood sugar count was 138. ALC 7.2. I weighed 232. I am taking Metformin once per day.

Today my blood sugar was 114 and I have lost 12 pounds.



What is the side effect to Metformin and what is the blood count I should get to and keep at?

Dear madam i can understand your concern.
i am very happy to see your diabetes under control
as per your age your fasting blood sugar should be below 120 mg/dl and 2 hrs after food should be below 160 mg/dl
Hba1c should be maintained below 7%.
metformin is a very good drug it helps you to loose some weight and improves insulin resistance.
there are minor side effects for metformin like gastric intolerance which can be avoided by taking sustained release formulations.
