What Are The Side Effects Of Methotrexate?

I am currently taking nine 2.5M tablets of methotrexate once a week. Also taking the folic acid daily. Have been on this for about three months. Now I am getting red pin point skin rashes on stomach. Should I quit taking the methotrexate, and health wise is it ok to just stop taking it. I realize the arthritis symptoms will return.
