Hello, thanks for posting on HCM.
TSH is a hormone which increases in body when the concentration of thyroxine hormone is decreased. Hence TSH causes the thyroid gland to produce more thyroxine. Hence your TSH is high, you are having hypothyroidism.
Mostly it is commonly seen in females who are pregnant and just after delivery.
You have been started on thyronorm 50 mcg which is appropriate dosage for you. The only side effect of it is allergic reaction in some patients. Other than that all other effects are helpful and will prevent you from having more symptoms of hypothyroidism. And it is the right medication or you with appropriate dosage.
Diet as such no restrictions but only reduce consuming cabbage because it contains thyroxine lowering agents.
Repeat TSH after 1 month to check whether values have come in normal range or not. If yes, the dosage will be reduced or stopped if well in control.
I hope I have given satisfactory answer to your query, if you still have any more query kindly write back to me and I will be happy to help.
Thank you
