I had a copper coil for 1.5 years. I got my period a week early 2 days after it's removal, then it was 26 days from then until my next period (my usual cycle for 15 years has been 21-24 days) and then my period was 2.5 days with 1 day being heavy. Does this mean I'm not ovulating? Is there anything I can do to regulate my system and kick start ovulation? I would rather avoid the pill as I hate it...
After removal of copper intrauterine contraceptive device, it will take some time for the regularization of the menstrual levels as the reproductive hormones will take some time to come to normal levels. Usually 21 to 35 days of the menstrual cycle can be considered as normal. According to that and also according to your menstrual history, your 26 days menstrual cycle can be considered as normal only.
After removal of IUCD sometimes ovulation may occur in the first cycle itself and sometimes it may take one or two months also. Now, according to your history, no need to use any treatment and you can wait for next few cycles. You can use ovulation detection kits to track the ovulation and plan unprotected intercourse around the time of ovulation which will increase the possibility of pregnancy.
