What Are The Side Effects Of Exposure To Skunk Spray?

Hi.. we have a skunk(s)? under our house and animal control can not get out here until Monday. It has sprayed and the smell has come up through the vents in my floor. We shut and covered the vents and aired out the house, however it still lingers and it could happen again. I am worried about my kids including my 18 day old baby. What are the effects the spray could have?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I really appreciate your concern, it is all depends upon the contains that the spray has got but over all it is the respiratory distress may be possible if the spray is potent one, still it is advisable to take some care and you can call the pesticide control department to check it out the air contamination, it can not be taken as granted.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
