What Are The Side Effects Of Having Intercourse During Menstruation?
I got my period on 01/23/2015 on 01/27/2015 I had hard sex while on my period, sex was a little painfull that day. I still have my period today, I saw my primary doctor yesterday. She ordered a sonogram and blood exams, everything came out ok. I am still bleeding I don t know what to do, my next appointment with my doctor is on 02/18.

Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Intercourse during menstruation is still a controversy. Risk of sexually transmitted infections are more during periods due to status of cervix being open at this time for passage of blood. Change of vaginal PH during this time can make you prone to yeast and bacterial infections also. Also still there is chance of being pregnant if you are doing unprotected intercourse also. Get a follow up with your gynecologist and do swabs to rule out any chance of infection. Transvaginal ultrasound can be done do rule out any pathology also. Hope this may help you.
