What Are The Side Effects Of Lisinopril?

My husband just began taking Lisinopril for high blood pressure. First week after diagnosed with HBP, he was very cautious about diet and he tried to limit alcohol use to 2 drinks per day. Now he is back to normal diet and heavy alcohol consumption, (smokeless tobacco use continues as well). I feel he is using the Lisinopril as a crutch as he continues lifestyle. Is it safe to do this? Also, I would like to have another child in the future. I worry the drug Lisinopril will have adverse effects on sperm, and risk of birth defect. (I feel one should not use medication while trying to conceive, male or female.) Should this be a concern.
