Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Your husband is taking Trazodone,
Hydrocodone, Gabapentin,
Quetiapine,
Hydroxyzine and Loratadine.
Out of these drugs hydrocodone is an opioid drug and is known to cause dependence if used regularly for
prolonged periods of time. The drug is known to cause side effects similar to opioid drugs. So I'd advise you to give him this drug for short durations of the time only and that too under proper prescription.
Quetiapine is an second generation
antipsychotic drug. The drug is known to cause sexual side effects in high doses. It can cause lack of libido, poor erection, poor desire if used for long durations in high doses. Other side effects are sedation, increased appetite, weight gain etc that can cause signification impairment in functioning.
Loratadine and Hydroxyzine both are antihistaminic drugs. Both drugs are safe as they are usually advised to be taken in low doses only. These drugs are known to cause sedation, sleepiness, weight gain etc symptoms. In some individuals slurred speech, dryness of mouth, dizziness etc are also seen.
Trazodone is an antidepressant drug. The drug is commonly used in individuals who have issues related to poor sleep. The drug is known to cause sedation, weight gain. If we consider sexual side effects then the drug is safe. The drug is used in
sexual dysfunction caused by SSRIs so will in-fact improve the sexual desire.
So over all the drugs he is taking are safe drugs and cause mild side effects that too are reversible. Please give him drugs as per prescribed doses only.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
