What Are The Side Effects Of Long Term Usage Of Zolpidem And Diazepam?

hello doctor,

Good morning!!!

Before six months my brother passed away by committing suicide!!!!

From then I'm taking 300 mg of zolpidem and 300mg of diazepam.

But now I'm going to get engaged and gonna get married in next 3 months.

Will the medications that I used for past 6 months would make me impotent?

I'm fearing that it might make me so.

Please advice what should I do going forward to make myself ready for marriage and lead an healthy life both sexually and as a good life partner.

Thanks,

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern and I am sorry for your loss. Please try to relax yourself. Doses of the drugs you are taking are really very high and the intake of these drugs should be stopped. 300 mg Zolpidem and 300 mg Diazepam is almost 30 times the normal prescription doses of these drugs. Taking these drugs in such high doses can result in progressive development of tolerance and you will need higher doses to get relief in future. It is not easy to get these drugs and this will increase illegal procurement of drugs and that can land you in jail. Abrupt stoppage of these drugs can cause tremors, seizures, delirium or even coma. You will develop cognitive impairment with time if you dont stop taking these drugs. Please try to follow my advise and if possible stop using these drugs. You are going to be married in next 3 months so please consider consulting a psychiatrist immediately.

Doses of these drugs if reduced gradually over 8-10 weeks will not cause any serious withdrawal symptoms. Doses should be reduced by about 20% every two weeks and should be stopped at 10 weeks. Please visit a psychiatrist for details. The drugs will not make you impotent but if you will not stop using these drugs then in future you will develop a lot of complications.

Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
