What Are The Side Effects Of Not Removing An Expired Implanon Implant?

I have had the implanon in my arm for 6 years it obviously has been expired for a while. I have not gotten pregnant from it staying in there past the date removal. I would like to know any risks that I would experience due to it just remaining in my arm. Thanks!

Implanon is a foreign body so like any other foreign body, it is non functional. It can cause pain, swelling and infection. Please get it removed.
