What Are The Side Effects Of Occluded Carotid Artery?
I would like to know what are the side effects of an occluded carotid artery. I have a carotid artery that is totally occluded. None of my doctors seem to know what side effects I may experience. However, I feel that is some of the cause for the deterioration of my spine, as well as, the loss of circulation that I feel in my legs. And many times, I feel as if I have no energy, but if I do things like take a walk, I become extremely tired. Is this just a coincidence or a side effect?
Hi welcome to HCM I understand your query and concern. Occluded carotid artery may present as dizziness, sudden loss of consciousness, headache, nausea, vomiting, rise in temperature, tingling and numbness ,seizures etc.Get an Angiogram immediately to visualize the extension of occlusion,Carotid stenting will be the treatment of choice.Monitor blood pressure regularly.Uncontrolled hypertension may alleviate the symptoms.Drugs like anti platelets will be helpful.Consult your cardiologist for expert management. Post your further queries if any, Thank you
