I'm a smoker for 11 years now and i smoke about half a pack a day, I have a very strange feeling in the bottom of my lungs during the first 10min of some mornings. My lungs basically feel hot and tingly, but it's only at the bottom part, and once i get out of bed it goes away, could it be due to sleeping under the blankets (recycled air) which i've been told i do sometimes in my sleep, or is it smoke related or maybe both...?
Cannot say in your particular case without an exam.
AND, you've been sleeping that way forever and the symptoms are since you started smoking. Smoking causes irritation of the lungs. Gunk collects in the lungs (at the bottom) overnight. Often people cough up the gunk during the morning. My bias is it is cigarettes.
