What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Betnesol During Pregnancy?

Hi. I am 35 weeks pregnant. My doc assumed I may have preterm so given betnesol in 33 weeks. After usg report she confirmed no preterm for me. We can wait as long as for labour pain starts. So unnecessary steroid can harm baby? As now when baby ll born naturally lunch ll be developed but the previous given steroid can cauase any side effects?

Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Usually we give steroids when suspecting preterm because it speedens production of surfactants in baby's lungs so it can survive outside uterus.
As now your delivery is going to wait till normal course and dose of betnesol was given it pose no threat to the baby. It will only help for early production of surfactants.
Baby will be born normally with no side effects whatsoever.
Do not be worried about it.
