Hi,

Reduced menstrual flow or absent periods usually occurs due to hormonal imbalance, stress, nutritional deficiency. Your symptoms could be caused by any of the above conditions. You have been prescribed Norethisterone which is synthetic progesterone. Taking the drug for a short course does not cause any major side effects. Some women may experience nausea or vomiting.

After stopping the drug, withdrawal bleeding occurs in 5 to 7 days. Hence, you can safely take the drug. Absence of bleeding even after using the drug indicates hormonal imbalance. You may be required to take a pelvic ultrasound, thyroid tests to identify the cause.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
