General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, like Zocor the other cholesterol lowering medicine Pravastatin can also cause myopathy (muscle pain, stiffness, or weakness), stomach upset and liver dysfunction. You may ask your doctor for an alternate effective but a safer medicine like colesevelam to lower your high blood cholesterol.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
