What Are The Survival Rates Of Open Heart Surgery?

My grandfather has been smoking for a lot of years, probably around 40? He needs open heart surgery. I feel terrible. Will he survive? :( I need to have these answers. I can't see my father loose his dad! :( please, if u can't answer this, say a prayer 4 him. He will need it.
Please, get back to me. I need hope. :*(

Earlier around 1980 the open heart surgery had a high risk but now a days with better techniques and equipments, the risk is barely
unless he has multiple other problem , there should not be any problem. just talk freely with your cardiac surgeon and he'll guide you completely.
