I recently contracted herpes from a former partner who cheated on me. I ve had minor symptoms, but the first blood test came back negative. I m suspecting that antibodies were not built up enough yet to show up on a test... so I m dreading taking a re-test. I will, though. I cannot afford the commercial medications. So what I want to know, is... how does one submit their candidacy, and get selected for a clinical trial on the new experimental treatments/cure attempts that are being conducted in this country, or others? I ve read that researchers were making progress by altering the RNA and genes of the virus, to lure it out of dormancy, allowing it to be destroyed by antivirals. I m not a dirty person, a whore, or sleep around... and do not want to have to live the rest of my life without relationships, or romance, simply because of another s infidelity. I ve read that nearly a quarter of people in the US have it (only most don t know it), so it seems like the creation of a vaccine/cure should be a high priority, seeing as how this affliction can cause complications with others, and pair up with them to become a more serious public health issue. If infections continue at their current rate (and the will), nearly half the US population will have HSV2 by 2050 (I did the math). So this is something that dearly needs to be addressed. It robs people of many aspects of their lives... not just intimacy. What is being done about this? ...and how can I get on board? Please help... anything will be appreciated. Thank you.
