Hi,
The good thing about pityriasis rosea is that it is quite harmless and self-limiting. It usually disappears by a month or so, though in some people it may last longer. There is no clear scientific evidence to suggest that antibiotics help clear it faster. Otherwise the only treatment really required is supportive - moisturizing creams, antihistamines (and topical steroids if the lesions are really bad). Also ask him to avoid/reduce soap for a few days. Basically nothing to worry. if the lesions are persisting or the symptoms are worsening better to check with your derm once more.
