What Are The Symptoms Of Asperger S Syndrome?

I am a first grade teacher and have a student in y class that I suspect may have Asberger s Syndrome. She is intelligent, and a great reader for a first grader at the start of the school year. She often waves her arms around in the air, and looks all around as if watching an insect buzzing around. Sometimes she laughs and laughs when nothing seems to be humorous. She becomes belligerent if she doesn t want to do something, and then cries loudly if the class is moving on with work when she doesn t want to. She pushes back in her chair and just cries and calls out that we need to stop and wait. Her behaviors are quite loud and disruptive to the whole class. I have a meeting with the parents in the morning. I need them to understand that we need to get a 504 behavior plan in place now for her and it will require some testing. I do not plan to use the words autism or Asberger s since I am not a medical professional. Do you think I am on the right path with my thinking? Her kindergarten teacher s tried to talk with the parent s last year but weren t able to get far. Since the little girl is intelligent, they didn t feel that here was a problem.

Symptoms

They start early in life. If you're a mom or dad of a kid who has it, you may notice that he can't make eye contact. You may also find that your child seems awkward in social situations and doesn't know what to say or how to respond when someone talks to him.

He may miss social cues that are obvious to other folks, like body language or the expressions on people's faces. For instance, he may not realize that when somebody crosses his arms and scowls, he's angry.

Another sign is that your child may show few emotions. He may not smile when he's happy or laugh at a joke. Or he may speak in a flat, robotic kind of way.

If your child has the condition, he may talk about himself most of the time and zero in with a lot of intensity on a single subject, like rocks or football stats. And he might repeat himself a lot, especially on a topic that he's interested in. He might also do the same movements over and over.

He also may dislike change. For instance, he may eat the same food for breakfast every day or have trouble moving from one class to another during the school day.

I hope you happy with information kindly rate it. thank you.
