Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am in the bathroom several time per hour. I feel an urgency to urinate but find it difficult to do so. This issue is exacerbated by blood pressure medication, I think. Do you suspect a UTI? What should I do. My doctor has not gotten back to me. I feel I can t leave the house.
It is possible that it may be a UTI, as you mentioned. UTI can involve in any area of the urinary tract including the urethra, bladder, ureter, kidneys.
There may be other symptoms such as discomfort on urination, change of the color or odor of the urine, abdominal pain.
To determine if there is an infection present you would need have a urinalysis done at your doctor's office. If an infection is confirmed then you would need a course of antibiotics.
The urine may also be sent to the lab to determine the exact bacteria that is causing the infection.
I hope this helps
