What Are The Symptoms Of An Ectopic Miscarriage?

Hi. My LMP was 4th July 2016. I took an HPT on 13th August 2016 and it was positive. My doctor did an ultrasound but found no gestational sac. She could see a decidual reaction. So she prescribed Folinine, Gestofit 300 tablets daily. Hucog 10000 injection biweekly. And Bharglob injection every 21 days. I miscarried on 14th Nov 2015 at 8 weeks. The heartbeat never came. My HCG was 1340 on 13th August 2016 and 2573 on 15th August 2016. I am due for another ultrasound on 23rd August and am really scared. Unlike the last time, this time I have on and off nausea all day, am dead tired and feeling dizzy at times too. why was there no gestational sac seen?Could it be ectopic or a miscarriage?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Increased BHCG (over 1500) with no visible gestational sac in the womb is considered ectopic pregnancy till it is confirmed otherwise. If it is ectopic pregnancy, the BHCG continues to rise, even though not in the level of a normal pregnancy. Contrarily, if it is miscarriage the BHCG should reduce in the following days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
