What Are The Symptoms Of Esophageal Spasms?

What does an esophageal spasm feel like? I have GERD. I have had a chronic sore throat and was diagnosed with Barrett s Disease last year. Lately, I ve been having periodic thump sensations in the middle of my chest, mostly when I m sitting. Would that be spasms, or could it be something else? Note: I have had open heart surgery (Maze Cox IV) for Atrial Fib. I currently take Flecanide Acetate(100mg, 2X daily), Atenolol (25mg), and a baby aspirin daily, plus Omeprazole (40mg) and Montelukast Sodium (10mg) and a range of vitamins and minerals, including calcium. Thanks for your help and advise.

Hi,

Thanks for your question on HCM

I do understand your concern

“As” per your clinical history is concerned it is not spasm it is narrowing part of the damaged esophagus tissue and it has developed from GERD. So do one biopsy to grade it like [No dysplasia, Low grade dysplasia & high grade dysplasia] and treatment will be according to your category.

Hope that helps
