What Are The Symptoms Of Head Injury In Infant?

Hi, I have a 5 month old son and he was picked up by his older brother, 3, without us knowing until we seen, and he dropped the baby on our wooden floor he hit the back of his head. The baby isn t really acting any differently, he s been sick with a cold for a few days so his eyes were glossy previous to the fall. But I was just wondering if you think I should take him into the ER regardless of him acting normal? Usually my mommy instincts would be going crazy if I truly felt he was in danger, this time I just don t know. He acts fine, he s already sleepy due to the time of night, but I am hesitant to let him sleep. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If baby is active and feeding well and no feature of vomiting or drowsiness, nothing much to worry. In babies the brain will be more flexible and the odds for head injury is very low.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
