What Are The Symptoms Of Herpes Infection After Having Unprotected Oral Sex?
I had protected sex with someone who said they have herpes, but we had done unprotected oral, and it was over a month ago. I ve been to a consultant already who said they can t do much unless I have an outbreak. I ve experienced no symptoms, and have had no outbreaks. Is it possible I dodged a bullet, or is it possible that its lying dormant? Ive read it normally happens within 2 to 2 weeks after intercourse, just kind of wondering what I should do.

Thank you for query.Many of the herpes cases do have manifestation by 2 weeks if infected with herpes.There can be asymptomatic cases also.you can watch for development of vesicles i.e water filled tiny lesions with pain or burning ,grouped or single,around the oral cavity, lips etc.If partner has active lesions chances are high.Not all kisses do lead to herpes from infected persons.If in doubt you can go for testing for herpes IGM amd IG G antibodies if facility is available to rule out anxiety.You can get back for any clarifications with details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and venereologist
