I am a 33 year old woman and have always been a very active person. I used to do a lot of running and cycling. For the last 5 months I have not been able to work up any energy to do anything.
I feel very tired, even in the mornings, sensitive to cold, have a puffy face and a strange feeling in my joints. My throat is tender on occasion, but I always have a 'frog' in it. My husband and children are complaining of my extreme mood swings. I forget things all the time! Another thing is a complete intolerance to alcohol. one glass of wine and I feel terrible the next day. I first thought that i was pregnant, since my breasts swelled up but returned to normal after about a month.
My periods are normal and I have not gained excessive weight: about 3kg in the last 3 months, but this could also be because I have not been training as usual.
Some of these symptoms have been there for years but now are much worse, such as the sensitivity to cold and the forgetfulness. 6 months ago I did a very extreme adventure race, which left me utterly exhausted for weeks. i am not sure whether i am now suffering from over training or hypothyroidism or possibly something else. I want to feel normal again!
Any advice greatly appreciated!!
