What Are The Symptoms Of Mercury Poisoning In A Child?
Hi, my child when 4 days old had eaten (most probably) mixture of milk (with hot water and share of mercury from thermometer). This happened when we wanted to measure the temperature of the boiled water in order to prepare milk mixture. After the child ate whole the meal I was looking the thermometer when just recognised it was broken and nearly half of Mercury was missing. Therefore I assume that the rest was in milk meal and child had eaten it. Of course we did some investigations where the results were negative (all Hg values within specs), however when I studied some articles, it was confirmed that there are many contaminated people where they newer got the right diagnose (poisoning with Hg have not been confirmed). A small amount of mercury in a thermometer may be swallowed or spilt out before checking the temperature. So better to consult your service provider whether the mercury is missing or not.
In case of an already broken thermometer, it may evaporate and lead to respiratory symptoms. So don't worry follow up for toxic symptoms are present or not otherwise ok.
