What Are The Symptoms Of Retinal Damage Due To Grow Light?

Hi Dr. Meyer. My carnivorous plants grow under a 400-watt LED grow light from Mars Hydro, Inc. To protect my eyes, I usually wear glasses designed to protect my eyes, but I ve just learned that blue light from the grow light may damage my retinas. If it does that, what symptoms am I likely to notice? Thank you. --Bill

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Usually blue light of certain intensity would not damage your eyes, still there can be symptoms of blurring, haziness, itching, discharge of dim vision depending upon the intensity of the light and duration of exposure of the same. I would recommend an ophthalmologist consulting to rule out any minor disturbances over the retina via fundoscopy examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
